Wire EDM or Electrical Discharge Machining
Wire EDM machining enables high precision production for close tolerance and detailed work. It is ideal for machining for extremely hard materials such as carbides, ceramics, titanium alloys and heat treated tool steels which are very difficult to machine using conventional machining but they can be precisely machined by EDM or Electrical Discharge Machining.
Also known as spark machining, spark eroding, die sinking, wire burning or wire erosion, Wire EDM is a metal fabrication process obtains the desired shape by using electrical sparks. Wire EDM usually works with materials that are electrically conductive, cutting intricate contours and cavities in pre-hardened steel as well as other metals and alloys such as titanium, hastelloy, kovar and inconel.
